Issues and Candidates

Sandler-Innocenzi has helped support legislative changes nationally and in a number of states with the highest levels of success, ranging from Tort Reform in Texas to the defeat of Sierra Club initiatives in Arizona.

The Issues

Sandler-Innocenzi has a long and successful history of helping American businesses and pro-business groups become active players in public policy forums.

Land Management/ Growth: In Arizona, we helped stop a Sierra Club-sponsored ballot campaign that would have limited the right to develop property. Down 65-35 when the campaign began, Sandler-Innocenzi advertising turned the campaign into a 70-30 win.

Environment: With a single well-designed TV spot, Sandler-Innocenzi inspired thousands of calls to the office of Maryland Governor Parris Glendenning to stop the dumping of contaminated dredge spoils into the Chesapeake Bay. The advertising ultimately caused the state of Maryland to review and table the dumping issue.

Education: A Sandler-Innocenzi radio and TV campaign in Des Moines, Iowa, stopped a significant property tax increase and at the same time got the funds needed for a major school construction effort.

Electricity Deregulation: Sandler-Innocenzi has been a strong leader in the ongoing fight to deregulate America's electricity industry. Our creative work led to statewide deregulation wins in New York, Florida, Ohio, Texas, Illinois, Michigan and New Hampshire. In New York, one Sandler-Innocenzi TV spot stopped an anti-deregulation bill cold.

Tort Reform: Sandler-Innocenzi was a leader in the national tort reform campaign of the mid-1990. In addition, we led communications on the insurance industry-funded Texans for Lawsuit Reform campaign that passed 10 of 11 tort reform issues through the state legislature.

Health Care Reform: Leaders of the health care industry turned to Sandler-Innocenzi to lead the way in the regional media program that defeated the Clinton Health Care proposals.

Local Campaigns: Sandler-Innocenzi led three successful campaigns to secure voter approval of more than a billion dollars in bonds for dredging the Port of Houston. We supported and passed public funding for community colleges and new bridges and paved the way for the approval of new sports stadiums in Texas and Colorado.
